One Liter of Tears: an insight

One Liter of Tears: an insight

Just last Friday, June 19, the television show-One Liter of Tears, a Japanese drama show ended. And as it ended, it left a very inspiring lesson to its viewers.
One Liter of Tears depicts a story of a young girl whose life was once filled with much happiness and contentment not until she was diagnosed with an incurable disease. Her parents found it first and as parents, they could not collect their energy to tell the truth to her. Spinal Cerebellum Degeneration Disease had put a limit on their daughter’s life. This disease is a very rare disease and even the most advanced country in the world has not yet discovered the cure of the disease. When their daughter found out it out herself, she could not even imagine herself in a hopeless situation. Out of thousands and millions of people, why is she the one chosen by the disease? She’s only fifteen years old and she had a lot of things to do yet. She’s still starting o enjoy life. But with every inch of her strength, she struggled to fight the depressing thought and rather face the truth. It is her fate. Though painful, she had to bear with it and just enjoy the remaining days of her life on earth.
Her disease worsens each day. Symptoms of the disease show as it progresses. And these symptoms are really dream killing. After time to time, she gradually lost her ability to walk, write, and even talk. And the worst, her disease progresses rapidly unlike the others who are diagnosed with the same disease. And so she had to stop playing basketball, the thing she loved the most. Then whether she likes it or not, she affects every people around her. It’s is inevitable. She could no longer play and mingle with her friends the way she did before. She could see it, hear it, and feel it. And every day of her life, she just wraps it on her diary. The pen and paper is her witness to her painful suffering. She strives to be happy because she doesn’t want to add the burden and hurt of the people around her especially her family. She had a very loving family, a supportive parents and strong siblings. She had great friends and a faithful boyfriend. She even had a hardworking doctor. They were her inspiration to live.
A lot of people loved her and remained on her side despite of her situation. Her family never left her since the first day she was diagnosed with the disease until her very last breath on earth and even until she does no longer exist. After days, months and years of fighting, she finally breathes her last at the age of 25. But even though she does no longer exist, her memory still lingers not only in their mind but even in the deepest part of their heart. To her friends whom she had loved and helped, her strong aura remains to cheer them up. To one of her friend who gradually became her boyfriend and whom she had helped to think of the future. He then took the field of medicine in the hope of finding a cure to her lovers disease and as well as to help other people, just like what her girlfriend dreamed long before. She became his inspiration to just bury the past, mind the present and seek what’s ahead of them and to enjoy every moment of their life. To her doctor, whose sweat and blood was poured to find the cure of the disease. She became his inspiration to continue and work harder to help others like hers. Also, she does not only inspire her family, friends, lover and doctor, but every people around her especially those people who have read the pages of her diary. Her diary was published nationwide and had captured a lot of people’s heart. Every word on that diary left an inspiration to all its readers. Every word describes a life of a brave girl.
I believe that God used her as an instrument to reach others people’s lives and imposed to them how wonderful the world is. Though the dream of the girl to help other people is not achieved through what she had dreamed before, she still achieved more of it by being an inspiration.
One liter of tears is based from a true to life story which up to now continues to uplift human fighting spirit. This tear-filled drama story is like a tattoo that sticks well in our mind, heart, life. Her life, it may be heartbreaking but it had filled a lot of people’s life with bright colors and had changed weary lives. This is a story that truly defines what love, bravery/courage, hope, faith really is, a story that portray what a family, a friend really is.
